On January 26, CPR announced a new Steering Committee for its Young Attorneys in Alternative Dispute Resolution Program (“Y-ADR“) – press release. The new Steering Committee includes Andy Moody, a Dispute Resolution partner in the London office of Baker and McKenzie and Luis Peretti, associate at the São Paulo office of Trench Rossi e Watanabe Advogados, both of whom have co-authored this post.
CPR is an independent nonprofit organization that, for more than 35 years, has helped global businesses prevent and resolve commercial disputes effectively and efficiently. CPR promotes voluntary mechanisms for resolving business disputes and offers a wealth of material and training on ADR, especially arbitration and mediation, encouraging its usage by corporations in multiple jurisdictions.
Among its initiatives, CPR sponsors the 21st Century Corporate ADR Pledge, which was signed by numerous international corporations and law firms, including Baker & McKenzie.
With the pledge, the signatories commit to “resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation and other ADR processes when appropriate, with a view to establishing and practicing global, sustainable dispute management and resolution processes.”
The Y-ADR Program brings together young attorneys and in-house counsel, stimulating the study and discussion of a variety of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and enabling them to exchange experiences and best practice in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
The Y-ADR Program is managed by a Steering Committee and is composed of young corporate lawyers and dispute resolution practitioners at leading international corporations and law firms.
