On 20 and 21 February 2016, the São Paulo office of Trench, Rossi e Watanabe Advogados, in cooperation with Baker & McKenzie, will welcome arbitration students from Brazil and abroad in the Pre-Moot Competition organized by the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Brazil‑Canada Chamber of Commerce (“CAM-CCBC“).
The CAM-CCBC is one of the most active ADR institutions in Brazil, offering state-of-the-art arbitration and mediation services that attract a relevant number of cases involving users from Brazil and several other jurisdictions. CAM-CCBC also promotes research, scholarships and academic projects, and encourages the usage of ADR in Brazil and abroad. Among such initiatives, there is the now traditional CAM-CCBC Pre-Moot Competition in São Paulo.
The event is a prelude to the Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, an academic project that stimulates the study of international commercial law and arbitration among law students worldwide. The Vis Moot traditionally involves a mock case that is analyzed by the participating students, developed through written briefs, and then argued before professional arbitrators and practitioners in simulated arbitration hearings taking place in Hong Kong and in Vienna.
The CAM-CCBC Pre-Moot will offer preparatory rounds to help the students brush up on their skills on the way to the main competitions.
This year, the Pre-Moot in São Paulo will take place in the premises recently inaugurated by Trench, Rossi e Watanabe Advogados. The rules and coverage are available at the event’s website.
