On 29 November 2022, the SCC will arrange an East-West Forum devoted to the impact of the war in Ukraine on international arbitration.

The war and the subsequent sanctions against Russia affected arbitration landscape in Europe, raising complex legal and practical issues. In this 3rd edition of our event series, we aim to discuss the changes in the work of law firms and arbitral practitioners, the sanctions, and the way forward. Among the panelists are the SCC Arbitrators’ Council members Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz, Daiga Zivtina, Mathias Steino, Amund Torum, Aigoul Kenjebaeva, Pirkka-Marja Pöldvere, Cosmin Vasile and Alexander Foerster. The event will be moderated by Robin Oldenstam and Natalia Petrik.

The SCC East-West Forum was founded in 2021 and reflects the SCC’s long-standing experience with the East-West disputes. The Forum is a meeting place for the arbitral practitioners working with the disputes related to Eastern Europe and CIS. Each event of the series includes discussion of arbitral developments in the region and provides insights into the career of an international arbitrator.
